Champ is a North American lake monster, dwelling in Lake Champlain. Lake Champlain borders both New York and Vermont. It is a protected creature in both places. Reports of Champ were actually reported by the media 50 years before the media reported Nessie.

Champ is a creature similar to Scotland's Loch Ness Monster, with a long neck, round body, and 4 flippers. However, Champ is much smaller than Nessie, averaging around 15 feet long.

Theories/explanations[]

Theories explaining the existence of Champ are similar to those of the Loch Ness Monster, including relict plesiosaurs, unknown amphibians or fishes, or hoaxes and misinterpretations.
